New Yes 23 advertisement to hit TV screens this weekend

Hope and optimism that a Voice can deliver better opportunities and make a better future possible for Indigenous Australians is the main message of a new nationwide Yes23 advertisement to hit TV screens this weekend.

The new ad features a young Indigenous child asking if a Voice would mean a better future for him with better opportunities in areas including health, education and employment.

Yes23 Campaign Director Dean Parkin said the advertisement told a powerful story of the once in a generation opportunity Australians have on 14 October to improve the lives of Indigenous people.

“This ad explains to Australians why a successful Yes vote is the best shot we have at tackling the entrenched disadvantage Indigenous people live with,” Mr Parkin said.

“Hope and optimism that the nation can finally come together and make Australia a better, fairer country continues to be at the heart of the Yes campaign.

“As more and more Australians start to tune in, we are explaining to the community that this referendum is simply about recognising the first peoples of this nation and listening to them so we can better address long-standing problems.

“We’re highlighting how a Voice to Parliament is a simple and practical way to improve outcomes in areas such as Indigenous life expectancy, health, education and employment.

“Indigenous Australians have asked all Australians to listen to them about how to fix the problems they face in their communities. This is exactly what a Voice will do.

“A successful Yes vote will make a real and practical difference for Indigenous people. I encourage all Australians to engage with our campaign over the next month and be part of this unifying moment that will move our country forward.”

This new advertisement will be rolled-out across TV, print, radio and Yes23 digital channels from this weekend and can be downloaded here.
